About Laulukuja
Laulukuja offers inspiring and personalized music lessons in Järvenpää and online for students of all ages and levels.
Lessons are available for singers, songwriters, singers seeking piano accompaniment, and speakers looking for vocal coaching.
You will be guided by Annastiina Tuokko — a singing teacher, vocal coach, active songwriter, and music pedagogue (BA) with over ten years of experience in teaching contemporary singing. Each lesson is tailored to your unique goals, whether you want to build vocal confidence, prepare for performances, sing your favourite songs with piano accompaniment (solo or with a friend), or develop your creative expression.
While Annastiina specializes in pop music and its subgenres, lessons are open to all contemporary styles — from rock, R&B, folk, and country to musical theatre, jazz, and beyond.
Lessons take place at the sound-treated studio in Järvenpää or via remote sessions. You can also book a free 20-minute introductory visit on-site or as a remote session.
At Laulukuja, every student and every musical style is valued equally. You are welcome to come as you are — with curiosity, openness, and a love for music.

Introductory Visit
During the introductory visit, we will chat about your wishes, goals, and musical background or your current situation as a voice user. I can tell you about my teaching methods, and if you like, we can also sing a little or listen to recordings of your singing or songs you have written.
The introductory visit is designed for new students, is completely free of charge, and does not commit you to booking further services. You can book one introductory visit if you have not previously attended a lesson at Laulukuja.

Singing Lessons
At Laulukuja, you can study singing in individual or paired lessons, either in person or through remote learning.
The content of each lesson is tailored to your wishes and needs. A lesson may include body warm-ups, vocal and breathing exercises, and singing songs. If you wish, you can get help with selecting songs and explore singing different musical styles under guided supervision.
Accompaniment Lessons
Accompaniment lessons are equally suitable for enjoying music as they are for focused practice. I will accompany you on digital piano while you sing your chosen songs (or even an improvised soundscape), either with or without a microphone.
You can receive guidance on microphone technique, performance preparation, or working with an accompanist, and I can help you choose the right key and tempo for your songs. We can also arrange a song into a different genre according to your preferences.
A short vocal warm-up session can be booked as an add-on service alongside your accompaniment lesson.
Please note: In accordance with tax guidelines, lessons paid for with recreational benefits (culture vouchers) are personal. With other payment methods, two singers can participate in an accompaniment lesson.

Songwriting Lessons
Designed especially for songwriters at the beginning of their creative journey, these lessons can cover lyrics, melody composition, harmony and rhythm, arranging, creating demos with music software, and practical aspects of releasing music.
Vocal Coaching for Speakers
Vocal coaching is suitable for professional voice users — such as teachers, trainers, hosts, customer service representatives, and actors — as well as anyone interested in healthy voice production.
Tailored to your needs, the lesson provides guidance on breathing and vocal exercises suitable for you, along with tools for applying them in practical situations. We will also explore vocal health across different environments. In addition to warm indoor spaces and various microphones, cold arenas and hot outdoor fields are familiar to me through my experience as a substitute riding instructor and volunteer football coach.
For example, the topic of your lesson can be speech clarity or using a loud voice sustainably without straining your throat.
About lesson bundles
Flexible Use for Households: Lesson bundles are household-specific.
This means that family members living under the same roof (at the same permanent address) can flexibly share the sessions on the same bundle.
Recreational / Employee Benefits (Epassi, Smartum, Edenred): Bundles purchased with employer-provided benefits are personal in accordance with Finnish Tax Administration regulations. They can only be used by the recipient and cannot be shared with family members or transferred to another person.
In the Slotti booking system, available payment methods include Epassi, online bank transfer, card payment, MobilePay, Siirto, Apple Pay, Google Pay and lesson bundles.

Cancellations and Rescheduling
Lesson bookings must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Otherwise, the lesson will be considered taken and will be charged in full (or deducted from your lesson bundle).
Right of Withdrawal
Because services at Laulukuja are time-bound services performed at a specific time, all purchases and bookings are binding. Under Chapter 6, Section 16 of the Finnish Consumer Protection Act, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for distance sales does not apply to time-bound leisure services.
Illness and Absences
Please only attend lessons if you are healthy and free of symptoms of infectious illness. In the event of sudden illness, you may choose one of the following options:
Switch to remote teaching: You can convert your lesson into an online session at the scheduled time. Please notify Laulukuja of this change as soon as possible via text message, WhatsApp message or email.
Gift your lesson: You may gift the individual lesson to another person, provided that you notify Laulukuja of the transfer via text message, WhatsApp message or email at least 6 hours before the lesson begins. (Note: Lessons purchased with employee/recreational benefits cannot be gifted).
Teacher Sickness
If a lesson is cancelled due to the teacher’s illness, a new time for a make-up lesson will be agreed upon with the student. The make-up lesson can also be conducted online if it suits both parties.
